![]() I think it's easier sometimes to put someone else's needs first as a distraction from the hurt that we're feeling I know I've done that before at least. And he was still pretending that he did (well was there mentally) and that he wasn't in a coma. Right, he didn't want to be in a world where his brother didn't exist. But they're important to me, so I decided to stick up for them anyways. There is still a lot of pain in their lives, but it was a beautiful ride right?Īnd thank you! I was honestly scared I'd get eaten alive for posting this because I see them on everyone's bad list. We do hear about everyone's death and of course we know that they are all already gone, but most of what they tell you is about life. I got it in my head at some point that when it comes down to it, Spiritfarer isn't really about dying. It seemed like he felt like he didn't matter without Mickey, and he did. Someone who proves to be caring and loyal, someone who would spend every moment he had trying to improve someone else's life instead of his own. Like he didn't feel like he was anything without his brother. And him admitting his death was a suicide was too much for me. Just picturing him running around Stella's workplace trying to make sure things are perfect for his brother who has long since been gone. I like that you're speaking up for and like the characters that a lot of people don't like. I've been thinking of playing again some time but part of the reason why I stopped (I was close to beating the game) was because I couldn't take the tears anymore and the ending was freaking me out. ![]() Finding that out and probably the Everdoor scene though I can't remember it right now made me feel for them. I really couldn't tell who all the tough talk was coming from some of the time until then, it's the little bird?! But it makes sense it's also a defense mechanism and I think a distraction from the fact that his brother is really gone mentally. I read how Mickey is in a coma and Bruce ended his life to be with him, and he's kinda the mouthpiece for Mickey. Reading about them didn't necessarily make me like them more, but it did make me empathize with them and feel slightly bad for putting them that high up on my ship. I had put their house all the way at the top of my ship since they were rude and getting in fights with people. I haven't played in about a year or more and didn't end up finishing the game so it's been a while but I remember really, really not liking both of them until I read an article about their backstories. Maybe I see them through rose tinted glasses, but maybe some of you will at least enjoy reading my thoughts on them! I don't necessarily think this would change anybodys opinion of Bruce (Mickey isn't mentally present throughout the game, so I can't really speak for him anyways), but I did want to throw this out there since I only ever see hate for them. Do I love him despite it all? Very much so. Does he deserve to be forgiven for being a bully? Probably not. Does he express love appropriately? Absolutely not. All of his missions were these pleads to have his brother back, and that really hurt. His desperate attempts to put life back into Mickey, who has long since been gone also broke my heart. ![]() He thinks of her as family, which leads me to believe he considers all of us family. But more importantly he said he that he would never do that because family is everything. This took me off guard (in a good way).īeverly's Paranoia - he calls her "Bev" which it was cute that he gave her a nickname. Stanley's Play - he starts off saying it wasn't professional theater, but ends up saying he actually liked it. ![]() I ended up picking them for all the options that you get to choose who interacts, and here's how that went.Ītuls Dinner - he was excited once we got there, but not as much interaction as the other two. I won't pretend like Bruce isn't super rough around the edges and that I excuse his bullying behaviors. I will say they weren't my favorite my first play through, but my second, they definitely were. I know most people hate Bruce and Mickey, so I figured I'd show them some love (Spoilers included).
